Pernille Larsen

Analyst

As a society, we are facing an immense and necessary transformation that demands changes in our ways of living and the structure of society. Pernille views the wellbeing economy as both a lens and a set of tools for addressing these transformations. She is driven by curiosity and motivated to tackle challenges such as poor mental health, social inequality, and the climate and biodiversity crises as interconnected and structural problems. In her approach, analyses and solutions must target the root causes of these issues. Recognizing that societal structures are created by people, Pernille believes in challenging the status quo and developing alternatives that are better equipped to guide societal development toward sustainability.

With a background in sociology from the University of Copenhagen, Pernille has focused on translating insights about people and society into sustainable practices and solutions. She previously worked as a consultant at Advice, where she explored sustainability at the intersection of qualitative and quantitative analysis and public affairs. Prior to that, she served as an analyst at 3F and as a junior analyst at IS IT A BIRD, where she concentrated on translating human needs into strategic recommendations and actionable solutions. Additionally, she has worked extensively with social innovation and sustainability, including as former chairperson of the Danish Social Innovation Club and as a member of Roskilde Festival’s Circular Laboratory.

At WELA, Pernille serves as an analyst focusing on issues related to human wellbeing, the fulfillment of needs, democracy, and social mechanisms, as well as the definition of "the good life" and considerations for future generations. She adopts a holistic perspective on these phenomena, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches.

In her free time, Pernille enjoys spending time outdoors, whether sailing her boat or embarking on longer hiking trips. She is a frequent attendee of both large and small summer festivals and can often be found browsing local thrift stores in search of materials for her next knitting or sewing project.
